Who’s taking care of you?

January 9, 2013 by mikejbrennan@comcast.net

Leslie Brennan, owner of Artesian Natural Foods, had an epiphany in her own life recently. Like most of us, she is busy and constantly trying to balance getting enough healthy foods into her diet as well as supplements to keep her system alkaline. Leading a stressful lifestyle can create acidosis (acidosis is a condition in which the body chemistry becomes imbalanced and overly acidic symptoms an be insomnia, water retention and more).

selfcare-is-not-selfish

Leslie has recently taken on the “80/20 principal” in her life. This means that 80% of the time she practices wellness (good diet, supplementation and exercise) and 20% of the time she takes for her own enjoyment (eating what you want, take a nap or get a massage). Leslie refers to this as “healing interludes” and she practices these on a regular basis. Perhaps this is something more of us should consider. After all, how can we take care of others if we are not well ourselves?
